Bring Your (Paper) Bible to Church

Bring Your (Paper) Bible to Church

As we begin an in-depth look at the book of Ephesians this month, I want to encourage you to bring your Bibles to church on Sunday. And I don’t mean the Bible on your phone.

Don’t get me wrong I love my Samsung Galaxy Bible. I love being able to switch between translations so easily. I love the YouVersion Bible app because I can see what other people are sharing and the Bible plans they are reading (kind of like Facebook for Bible readers).

The research is still fairly new and admittedly our knowledge of the impact reading on  screens has on us is limited. However when it comes to reading longer sections or long stories, the research seems to tell us there is a disadvantage to reading on a screen.

This would mean that for Bible reading, our brains are still wired for reading on paper.

So please bring your leather-bound, dog-eared, paperback, hard cover, red-letter edition, whatever PAPER Bible to church on Sunday. 🙂

If you want to see some of the research, here are two places to look:

And if that doesn’t convince you, maybe this  IKEA commercial will! 🙂
